If you are willing to beta read for and/or help organize this exchange, please e-mail the moderators at sshg.exchange@gmail.com.

The absolutely stunning drawing that serves as the background pic for this community's layout was drawn by the amazing [info]usagistu, otherwise known as Melanie. :) Mel also did the art work featured in the community icon and [info]pearle9240 made it into an icon. Thank you, Melanie, for letting me use your gorgeous art work.

Here are the basics:

1. Requests can be made by replying to the Request Post up until midnight, April 21, 2006 (U.S. Mountain- Arizona time, since that's where I am). See the rules section below for more details on this.

2. Assignments will be sent out the week of April 24th. Participants will choose one of the requests made to fulfill. Authors/Artists may NOT tell anyone whose request they were assigned and may NOT post ANY part of the gift anywhere until the exchange is over and we have had "The Big Reveal."

3. Completed gifts are due to sshg.exchange@gmail.com by midnight, June 18, 2006.

4. If you have not requested an extension by June 17th, I will be giving your assignment to someone else starting on June 19th, and you will not receive your gift. You will also never be allowed to participate in an exchange here again if you completely fail to turn in your gift and/or contact the mods about the reason why.

5. All gifts will be released starting July 1, 2006! They may be posted here (by the moderators) or there may be a special website where they will be hosted. More details on this later.

6. In mid-July the master list of who wrote/drew what will be posted.

You didn't really think there wouldn't be any rules, did you? ;-)

1. Membership to the community is open to anyone with a LiveJournal account, but only the moderators have posting access.

2. Format for making requests is outlined in the Request Post.

3. Requests may be made for art (which can be for a particular scene from a fic you wrote), essays, or fanfiction. It's possible there may be a "multi-media" exchange some day (mood themes, layouts, icons, ect.), but not this round.

4. All requests must focus on the relationship between Severus and Hermione. Genfic that explores their teacher/student relationship or their friendship/hatred is perfectly fine. A romantic relationship is not a prerequisite.

5. All ratings and genres are allowed. However, the moderators ask that requests not be too "pornographic." PWP is allowed, but please, nothing too heavy. This isn't a kinkfest. ;-)

6. Please communicate with the moderators ahead of time if you think your fic is going to be late for any reason. We promise you won't get in trouble, no matter what the excuse is, as long as you let us know in advance.

7. Please respect your recipient's wishes. If they want a happy ending, give them a happy ending. If they want genfic, give them genfic. If they want angst... well, you get the idea. :) If, for whatever reason, you are not happy with your assignment, please do not hesitate to say so right away. It is much easier to simply give you a new assignment and give yours to someone else than it is to scramble to find someone at the last minute.

8. Each fic must be at least 1,500 words. There is no maximum. If you want to turn in the first 1,500 words by the deadline and tell your recipient more is to come later, that it fine, as well.

9. Everyone is highly encouraged to utilize the services of a qualified beta reader. There are a few resources if you need to find one. Here are some of them.

a. Perfect Imagination is a very helpful resource when searching for a qualified beta reader. All beta readers listed in the database are required to pass a canon and grammar exam to become a part of the database.

b. The Sycophant Hex Forums is another excellent resource. Scroll down to the "Beta and Brit-Picker Business" section. Joining the forum is required to post, but it is free and fast.

c. The Tauri Forums is another great resource. Go to "The Matrix" for a list of qualified beta readers who are Tauri members. Joining the forum is required to post, but it is free and fast.

d. There may be a Beta Readers Resource post made to the comm eventually, but not until after assignments have gone out.

10. Erm... HAVE FUN! :D
